Will ChatGPT Replace Google?

ChatGPT is unlikely to fully replace Google any time soon. Google still holds the overwhelming majority of global search market share, and it has responded to the AI shift by building its own AI Overviews and AI Mode directly into search rather than standing still.

ChatGPT has genuinely taken share for certain use cases, especially research and how-to questions, but habit and sheer scale still favor Google for the bulk of everyday searches.

The more likely outcome is a split market, Google remaining dominant overall while ChatGPT and other AI tools carve out a real, durable share of specific query types.

Building visibility across that split market is the whole strategy behind software for AI search visibility.
