Why Isn't My Site Showing Up in AI Overviews?

A site usually misses out on AI Overviews for one of a few common reasons. The most frequent is simply not ranking well organically for the query in the first place, since Google draws overview content heavily from already ranking pages.

Content structure is the next most common cause. Pages that bury the answer under a long introduction, or never state it plainly at all, give the summarization system nothing clean to lift.

A less common but real cause is blocked crawler access, an old or overly broad robots.txt rule accidentally shutting Google's AI systems out of the page entirely.

Checking all three of those issues is a standard part of running LLM optimization software.
