Is AEO Replacing SEO?

AEO is not replacing SEO, it is a layer added on top of it. Every AEO technique, clear structure, direct answers, concise phrasing, also helps a page rank in the first place.

The two grew up together rather than in competition. Answer engine optimization started as a way to win voice search and featured snippet boxes years before ChatGPT existed, using the same underlying SEO signals.

What has changed is how much AEO now matters, since AI chat answers pull traffic away from the results page entirely rather than just occupying a box on it.
